In the sky

More than half of the disc is bright and the illuminated portion continues to grow towards full Moon. It is prominent in the evening sky. The word gibbous describes its rounded, bulging shape between the half-lit disc and the full circle.

The Waxing Gibbous is almost full: the final stretch of growing light before the Full Moon.

Symbolic meaning

Almost full — the work is nearly there and asks for refinement, not reinvention. Edit, adjust, rehearse, and trust the process through the final stretch.

This phase symbolises cultivation and refinement: what has begun is becoming substantial enough to be improved. Its question concerns quality and preparation. Attention to one useful detail can bring a project closer to maturity, while preserving the direction chosen at the beginning of the cycle.

Work with this phase

Look at what you have actually produced since new Moon. Choose one criterion that would make it better: clarity, consistency or a missing practical detail. Ask for specific feedback if useful, make one adjustment and finish a manageable part. Decide when that part will be ready to share or review.

Good for

  • Refining details
  • review and editing
  • practice
  • patience
  • preparation.

Meditation

Practise one detail attentively · 10 min

Avoid

  • Big changes of direction
  • rushing to finish
  • harsh self-criticism.

Journal Reflections

Review your progress and fix one detail.

Which detail would make the greatest useful difference now? What does ready enough mean for this stage?

Tradition and sources

The symbolism of the eight stages draws on twentieth-century humanistic astrology. These exercises offer a personal way to work with the cycle. Here you can explore both the astronomical observations and the sources of the tradition.
