Tarot of the year

Tarot 2027: Justice, the card of the year

In tarot numerology, every year has a card: you add up its digits and bring the result to one of the 22 Major Arcana. For 2027 the answer is Justice, number XI. Here is the calculation, how to read it without turning it into a prophecy and how to find your own Year Card.

Justice

The calculation

2 + 0 + 2 + 711XI · Justice

Add up the digits of the year: 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11. Since 11 is already between 1 and 22, there is nothing more to reduce: it is Justice (XI). It is the same method the app's Personal Tarot course uses, applied to the year alone.

Vialunis follows the Rider-Waite-Smith numbering, where Justice is XI and Strength is VIII. In Marseille-tradition decks the two numbers are swapped and Justice is VIII: keep that in mind if you use one.

The root: The High Priestess

Reduce 11 to a single digit, 1 + 1 = 2, and The High Priestess (II) appears. Mary K. Greer groups the cards that share a root into “constellations”: The High Priestess, Justice and Judgement form the family of intuitive awareness. Together they suggest a year for looking at the facts clearly while still listening to what you know inside.

How to read a year of Justice

The app's lesson “Reading Your Current Year” suggests looking at the card from three sides: the theme, the opportunity and the caution. In the words the app gives Justice:

The theme
Every act is weighed, and the scale settles true.
The opportunity
equitytruthintegrityfair outcomeclear judgementresponsibility
The caution
legal complicationsbiasexcessive severityunfair dealingself-deception

Questions for the year

  • Where in my life is the scale visibly tipped, and what would truly rebalance it?
  • Am I judging myself — or someone else — with more severity than the facts support?
  • Which truth am I avoiding because of the consequences it would set in motion?
A line to remember it byI meet the truth squarely and deal fairly in everything I do.

This is a symbolic reading for reflection, not a forecast: 2027 will not be any fairer or less fair because of this card. The Year Card is a question that keeps you company, not a prediction.

Your Year Card for 2027

The card of 2027 is the same for everyone. Yours changes with your birthday: add the day and month you were born to 2027 and reduce the result to a number between 1 and 22 (22 is The Fool). It runs from your 2027 birthday to the next one.

For example, if you were born on 10 April: 10 + 4 + 2027 = 2041, and 2 + 0 + 4 + 1 = 7, The Chariot (VII).

Choose the day and month you were born.
