Imbolc celebrates the first stirrings of spring. Light is growing, days are lengthening, and life begins to awaken. Associated with the Celtic goddess Brigid (fire, poetry, healing, smithcraft), this is a time of purification and preparation. Traditionally, it marks the first lambing of sheep (beginning of lactation - "Imbolc" means "in the belly"). This is when we clean and prepare for new life to come.
